Assalamu alaikum and a warm welcome to SONA.
I am glad you are here.
To me SONA is far more than a fashion label. The name SONA came from the names of our children, and it reminds me every day why I founded this brand: to create something honest, well made and lasting.
I am Indonesian and have lived abroad with my husband and our family for more than 15 years. As a practising Muslim woman I have always been looking for hijabs that look elegant, feel good to wear and are practical for everyday life.
How the idea came about
On every visit to Indonesia I discovered beautiful hijabs whose quality, fabrics and modern cuts impressed me again and again.
The idea for SONA finally came during my Hajj in 2019, which I was able to make together with my husband.
During the pilgrimage women from many countries kept asking me about my Indonesian hijabs. Many wanted to know where they were from and whether they could buy them.
Those encounters stayed with me.
Ever since, the same question kept coming back to me:
Why are hijabs that are high quality, elegant and practical at the same time so hard to find?
Out of that question, SONA was born.
Straight from the makers
Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Modest fashion here is part of everyday life for millions of women. That constantly produces new ideas, good fabrics, modern cuts and practical solutions for women who wear their hijab every day.
That is why I work directly with selected producers. We choose models, fabrics and colours together and keep developing them until they meet my standard.
No middlemen. That is what lets us hold the quality and stay honest about what we sell.
My principle
There is one principle I never depart from:
I only sell hijabs I would wear myself with full conviction.
With every single product I ask myself:
“Would I happily wear this hijab every day myself?”
If the answer is not a clear yes, it does not become part of the SONA collection.
To me quality means more than a beautiful fabric. Quality means a hijab feels good to wear, looks elegant, is practical in everyday life and still gives pleasure after many washes.
I believe Muslim women should not have to compromise — neither on their clothing nor on its quality.
That is why SONA stands for elegant, high quality modest fashion made for everyday life, chosen with care and developed together with our producers.
I hope you can feel in every single product how much heart, time and attention to detail went into it.
